The modernization of the “Arktika” Sports Palace in Norilsk is in full swing. At the end of 2024, the facility was equipped with the latest technological innovations, including specialized adsorption dehumidifiers for optimal humidity control and a state-of-the-art multi-stage water purification system designed to create the perfect ice surface.
The Russian manufacturer PROSTOR played a key role in the project, developing solutions to ensure ideal ice conditions. The main objective was to establish precise temperature and humidity parameters in the ice rink area while also preparing purified water for high-quality ice resurfacing. Notably, the installed water treatment system not only filters and heats the water before it is applied to the ice but also alters its chemical composition—resulting in ice that is clearer, harder, and less brittle. This enhancement allows for better puck glide and increased player speed, contributing to a faster, more dynamic, and highly skilled game of hockey.

The dehumidification process in the ice rink area is facilitated by two independent PROSTOR-brand adsorption dehumidifiers, which effectively remove excess moisture from the air using high-efficiency silica gel rotors and a Russian-made humidity control system. The built-in intelligent automation system, with remote monitoring capabilities, enables real-time tracking and adjustment of air humidity levels in the arena.
The Aqua-Ice water treatment system, developed by Russian manufacturer PROSTOR, features a multi-stage purification process. The treatment begins with the removal of large and small suspended particles—such as sand and rust—reducing water turbidity and discoloration. The system then eliminates organic impurities, chlorine, and hardness salts, improving puck glide and enhancing the clarity of hockey markings on the ice. Finally, water undergoes high-pressure reverse osmosis filtration to remove even the finest contaminants.
Thanks to these cutting-edge technological solutions, the ice surface at the “Arktika” Sports Palace is now among the best in Russia. This modernization enables the facility to host top-level training sessions and competitions, setting new standards for ice quality.
